Industrial gas supplier Messer announced this week that a new $50 million air separation unit (ASU) will be erected in McGregor, TX that receive most of its electricity from solar panels installed at the site.
“With our expansion in Texas and the inclusion of solar energy, Messer is focused on sustainability and environmental protection,” the president and CEO of Messer Americas, Jens Luehring, said in a release. “As we move to a renewable-based future, this investment is integral for our green energy initiatives as we continue to serve our customers with a reliable source of supply.”
Once operational, the facility will serve a range of industries in central Texas, including food and beverage, chemical, metals, and oil and gas.
Work on the site is slated to reach completion in the second quarter of 2024.
