Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft are a revolutionary advancement in aviation technology. Largely designed to transform urban and regional transportation, these vehicles combine the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of helicopters with the efficiency and sustainability of electric propulsion.

eVTOLs are designed to operate in densely populated urban environments, offering a solution to ground traffic congestion and providing rapid point-to-point transportation. Unlike traditional aircraft, eVTOLs don't require runways; they utilize vertical space for takeoff and landing. This feature allows them to operate from compact "vertiports" integrated into urban landscapes, such as rooftops or parking structures.

The core technology behind eVTOLs is electric propulsion. Most designs feature multiple electric motors driving propellers or ducted fans powered by advanced battery systems. This electric powertrain offers several advantages over conventional combustion engines, including reduced noise, zero direct emissions, and lower operating costs.

While not many eVTOLs have reached the market yet, many different companies are designing their own version of the aircraft. Each design varies widely. Back in 2023 we looked at 11 exciting eVTOLs being developed; 18 months on there are a fresh batch of new eVTOLs that are getting ready to reach the market in the coming years. Read on to learn about seven upcoming eVTOLs to look out for.
