Green Car Journal’s award winners for 2022 also include vehicles from Lucid, Tesla, Hyundai, Chevrolet, and a new business brand from GM called BrightDrop.

The Green Car Awards are presented every year by Green Car Journal as part of its mission to showcase environmental progress in the auto industry. This year, the top award, The Green Car of the Year, went to Audi’s Q4 e-tron electric crossover vehicle. The Green Car of the Year winner was selected by a distinguished jury, including leaders of the nation's energy efficiency and environmental organizations, Green Car Journal staff, and celebrity auto expert Jay Leno. The announcement was made in a press release by the Journal. The first Green Car of the Year award was announced in 2005.

Along with the Green Car of the Year were winners in five other categories. Each of the winners in this year’s competition is an all-electric battery-powered vehicle.

Here are the Green Car Journal winners for 2022 and the reasons for the choice given by the Journal:

2022 Green Car of the Year: Audi Q4 e-tron

"This is a well-earned win for Audi and its exceptional Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback," said Ron Cogan, editor, and publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com. "Audi has shown a significant commitment to electrification with a growing number of plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. The all-new Q4 e-tron is especially important because it offers drivers a premium electric crossover SUV producing no emissions, at an approachable price."

Two additional awards, 2022 Green Truck of the Year and 2022 Family Green Car of the Year will be announced at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show on November 12.
