Curious how your salary compares with those of your engineering peers in the automotive industry?

The median annual salary for engineers working in the automotive manufacturing sector reached $102,310 in 2023, according to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). But, of course, pay is determined by many factors, ranging from engineering discipline and specific job title to years of experience and location.

To give you an idea as to how your salary might stack up, we mined BLS data on salaries for engineers working in automotive manufacturing in the US. This report details five salary tiers—ranging from the lowest to highest—for 10 specific engineering roles in motor vehicle manufacturing, including electrical, mechanical, electronics, materials, and industrial engineers, as well as engineering managers.
