Electric vehicles (EV) are finally beginning to hit their stride with offerings from nearly every major carmaker. Although the surge in interest has pushed new designs and innovative technologies, a number of automotive manufacturers have been researching EVs for decades.
Volkswagen is one such company. For more than five decades, the German-based company has been exploring how to make electric vehicles accessible worldwide. It has culminated in the all-electric VW ID.4 SUV, that is launching this year.
We thought it would be interesting to look back at some of the vehicles that have paved the way for an all-electric VW future.
