Coming in at 10 is the great state of Idaho, which has 3,500 registered EVs, for which there are 111 separate charging stations and 546 individual public chargers available. The state offers 3 separate incentives for personal EV ownership—far fewer than East Coast states such as New York (15 incentives) and Maryland (16 incentives) that nonetheless rank lower on the list. In August, the average price per gallon of gasoline was $4.74 while the cost of electricity (as recorded in 2020, the most recent data available) was 7.99¢ per killowatt-hour (KWH)—the lowest of the top 10 states.
