The inaugural edition of The Battery Show India, presented by Informa Markets alongside the 16th edition of Renewable Energy India 2023, showcased a robust assembly of over 900 brands, hosted more than 275 speakers, and attracted a turnout of 40,000 visitors. This convergence of professionals spanning Energy, Automotive, Transportation, and Mobility reflects the evident momentum in India's Renewable Energy and Battery solutions sector.

Featuring major exhibitors like Saint Gobain, Rubamin, and Erhardt + Leimer, the expo gained strong support from national and international associations, governmental bodies, and industry leaders. Key discussions during the event delved into India's road transport electrification, battery technologies, recycling, lithium battery manufacturing, material supply chain, and barriers in the EV industry.

India’s leadership in energy storage

India's position as a leader in the energy-storage market was emphasized, with growth opportunities projected for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market. The focus on new battery technologies aligns with India's goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. The importance of sustainable recycling methods for EV batteries was highlighted, as the market for recycled EV batteries in India is expected to reach 128 GWh by 2030, contributing to a 90% reduction in carbon emissions related to EV battery production.

The Battery Show India 2023 positioned itself as a catalyst in India's transition to sustainable energy, garnering support from industry giants, associations, and the government.

Running concurrently, Renewable Energy India 2023 featured diverse pavilions and premium exhibitors, showcasing bleeding-edge technologies in solar energy, wind energy, bioenergy, energy storage, electric vehicles, and charging infrastructure. With support from influential associations and a lineup of compelling events like the CEO/CXO Conclave, CTO Forum, REI Awards, and various conference sessions, the expo served as a comprehensive platform for industry professionals.

Key highlights included sessions on Green Hydrogen, Women Empowering the CleanTech Decade, E-Highways, Corporate Decarbonization, and RE – Master Talks. Noteworthy speakers, including Vinay Rustagi of Bridge To India and Soumya Sinha of Frost & Sullivan, enriched the conference with insights.

Renewable Energy India Expo has played a pivotal role in propelling the growth and advancement of India's renewable energy sector, showcasing the nation's steadfast commitment to achieving its ambitious renewable energy targets. With India poised to become the world's largest renewable energy market, the expo spotlighted trends such as increased focus on solar and wind energy, growing deployment of battery storage systems, rising demand for electric vehicles, rooftop solar installations, and government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
