Mid-Priced EVs Are Now Among Us: Here Are 10 Models That Deliver on Their Promises!

The variety of electric vehicles (EVs) available to US car buyers continues to increase as electrification of the transportation system has begun to take hold. Recently, we covered the inexpensive end of the EV spectrum, detailing mostly the vehicles that are currently available at a price around $40,000 or less. That price point represents approximately the average new car transaction price in the US.

It seems hard to think of vehicles that cost between $40,000 and $80,000 as being mid-priced, however that is the world in which we live, and there are now a variety of luxury and high-technology EVs that are available in that price range. Some of the vehicle that we are considering qualify for a $7,500 Federal tax refund, and some state and local financial incentives can come into play to further reduce the costs of buying these mid-range EVs. In addition, recent studies have proven that EVs cost significantly less to own than gasoline-powered cars, not only because of the lower energy costs of electricity versus gasoline, but also because of lower maintenance and repair costs over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Here are ten 2021 model-year EVs priced between $40,000 and $85,000 that you can buy today.
