Home battery systems offer a number of benefits for homeowners, ranging from energy independence when paired with a renewable energy system such as solar panels in an off-grid setup to blackout protection when set up for whole-home backup. But those benefits come at a hefty cost—around $10,000 for a lithium-ion home battery, according to PV Magazine. Luckily, some states offer incentives, such as tax breaks and utility rebates, to help defray the cost.
